Manchester City Continue Title Charge with Thrashing of Brighton

Wembley Pain is Washed Away

Manchester City moved to within one point of Premier League leaders Arsenal after thrashing Brighton & Hove Albion 4-0 at Amex Stadium. The visitors took the lead through Kevin de Bruyne's stunning free-kick in the 27th minute. The Belgian midfielder doubled City's advantage just before halftime with a clinical finish from inside the box.

Erling Haaland extended City's lead in the 53rd minute, tapping home from close range after a superb cross from Joao Cancelo. Riyad Mahrez completed the rout in the 82nd minute with a low drive into the bottom corner.

City's Unbeaten Run Continues

Manchester City are now unbeaten in 30 games in all competitions, emulating Nottingham Forest (1978) and Real Madrid (2023) as the only teams in top-flight history to achieve such a feat.

The victory also marked Pep Guardiola's 250th win in charge of Manchester City. The Catalan manager has now won 11 major trophies with the Blues, including four Premier League titles.

Brighton's Woes Continue

Brighton, on the other hand, have now lost their last four Premier League matches and are without a win in their last six. Roberto De Zerbi's side remain 15th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone.

Manchester City will now turn their attention to their Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday. They hold a 4-3 lead from the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.
