Manchester City Move Closer to Arsenal with Win over Nottingham Forest

Haaland Hat-Trick Leads City to Victory

Forest Remain Near Bottom of Table

Nottingham Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday evening, as the reigning Premier League champions closed the gap at the top of the table to just one point behind leaders Arsenal.

After a goalless first half, Phil Foden broke the deadlock for City in the 7th minute of the second half. Erling Haaland doubled their lead just minutes later, scoring his third hat-trick in the Premier League since joining the club this summer.

Forest, who had midfielder Orel Mangala sent off for a second bookable offense in the first half, were unable to mount a comeback and remain fourth from bottom in the standings, just one point above Luton Town.

Manchester City, meanwhile, move up to second place with 14 points from six games played, trailing Arsenal only on goal difference. They also have a game in hand on the Gunners, who have played seven games so far this season.
